The person behind COVA

I'm Daniel Corominas Herberg, a developer and consultant based in Thessaloniki, Greece, and I've been building digital systems professionally for over 18 years. COVA is how I work — a focused independent practice built around four areas I've gone deep on: web development, AI integration, business process automation, and enterprise output management.

Most of my work is handled solo. For larger or more specialised projects, I bring in trusted collaborators from my network — developers, designers, or specialists — on a project basis. You always know who's working on your project, and you're always talking to the person doing the actual work.

I started COVA because I kept seeing the same problems: businesses being sold expensive, generic solutions that didn't fit how they actually worked. Slow websites nobody could update. Automation tools set up without thought for what happens when they break. Document pipelines held together with manual processes and hope. I wanted to offer something different — precise, reliable work, with no layers between you and the person responsible.

How I work

Every engagement starts the same way: I try to understand what you actually need before I suggest anything. That means asking questions most developers skip — about who uses the system daily, what breaks when it fails, and what success looks like in six months, not just on launch day.

I work in short, transparent cycles. You get access to staging environments, regular updates, and direct contact throughout the project. No account managers, no ticket queues, no "we'll show you when it's done." Just honest communication and steady progress.

I'm comfortable working remotely with clients anywhere in the world. Time zones are usually manageable with some flexibility. I've worked with clients in Greece, Germany, across the EU, and further afield.

What I believe about this work

A website is infrastructure, not decoration. It should load fast enough not to lose a visitor before they've read the first sentence, be structured well enough for search engines to understand it, and be flexible enough for your team to manage without calling me every time something needs updating.

Automation is not about replacing people — it's about giving back the hours that go into work that doesn't require human judgment. Data entry, report distribution, document routing: these are tasks computers do better than people, and I enjoy making that argument stick with a working system.

Output management is infrastructure that most people don't think about until it breaks. I think about it constantly. A high-volume document pipeline that fails silently costs more than the cost of building it properly the first time.
